Our Practice
Established in Triangle, North Carolina, Carolina Colon Rectal and Gastrointestinal Surgery provides state-of- the art surgical care to people in the Raleigh, Cary, Chapel Hill, Durham, Clayton, Dunn, Benson and surroundings areas of North Carolina, up to Charlotte and South Carolina.
Utilizing the latest in surgical techniques including laparoscopic surgical technology, anorectal ultrasound and colonoscopy, the physicians of Carolina Colon & Rectal Surgery treat and care for diseases of the colon and rectum and small intestine.

It is critically important to have clear understanding of pathophysiology of colorectal cancers and inflammatory bowel diseases, particularly rectal cancers to achieve cure by complete mesorectal excision to remove all the lymph glands and at the same time to avoid permanent colostomy as much as possible without compromising the cure. Most of these demanding surgical procedures are done laparoscopically in our practice, that’s where we make difference to patients by providing the highest quality of care.
Over the years our practice has been actively involved in teaching residents and research. We do clinical research on diseases of Colon, Rectum and Intestines to evaluate the efficacy of various management modalities to develop and establish gold standard of care.

Dr. Sankar Adusumilli is a passionate and highly respected Gastrointestinal, General, and Colorectal Surgeon known for his expertise in advanced da Vinci robotic and laparoscopic procedures. As the founder and owner of Carolina Colorectal Surgery in Raleigh, NC, Dr. Adusumilli has built a practice that offers state-of-the-art surgical care with a focus on precision, compassion, and patient-centered outcomes. His dedication to promoting best practices in trauma and cancer surgery, coupled with his meticulous attention to complex diagnoses and prognoses, has earned him a reputation as a leader in his field.
With a medical degree and a master’s degree in surgery from the University of Health Sciences, Dr. Adusumilli further honed his surgical skills during his residency at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital, affiliated with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He also served as a clinical instructor in the university’s Department of Surgery, demonstrating his lifelong commitment to education and excellence. A powerhouse of knowledge, he holds multiple surgical fellowships, has delivered numerous research presentations, and continues to be an authority in advanced laparoscopic colon and rectal surgery.
